As a Vernon Photographer who specializes in newborn portraits and Weddings, a lot has changed in the last month during this Covid 19 pandemic. Many of my summer clients have had to postpone their weddings, while others, later in the Summer, are still hoping their festivities can go ahead as planned; although they will look different.

Ben and Kailyn were to be one of my May weddings. You may remember them from their beautiful engagement session last summer up Silver Star Mountain Resort. They are a beautiful couple, who both, in their own prospective sports, are top athletes. Both are currently on scholarships for football and soccer and with such illustrious careers, postponing their wedding to 2021 didn’t seem like the best option. They want to be together as a married couple so plans were made to change their wedding ceremony.

I marvelled at how positive they managed to stay during it all. Their wedding looked vastly different than they had envisioned. Only immediate family was in attendance and of course their venue was not option so they choose to get married on the shores of Okanagan Lake, with Kailyn’s dad officiating.

A rather dramatic storm blew in shortly before their ceremony but thankfully, the rain dried up and glorious sun shone down. The one thing that did not let up was the wind. I have never photographed a ceremony with so much wind, but again, these two amazing people took in stride. Love was truly winning out over Covid 19 or crazy weather that no one could control.

A family friend has a beautiful property over looking Kalamalka Lake where we were able to capture their beautiful portraits.

Ben and Kailyn. I can’t wait for the day we can have one gigantic party with all your family and friends but until then I know there will lots of friends and family smiling from behind their computers as they look at your beautiful wedding portraits!

  • […] Ben and Kailyn’s wedding in April wasn’t the vision they had for their special day.  Only immediate family and I were in attendance but that didn’t stop their love story from being realized.  They were announced as Mr. and Mrs. and the party they plan on having one day to celebrate with friends will be a huge celebration!
