This Vernon Photographer just celebrated her 14th Anniversary to her husband Paul. As many married people can attest to, life flashes by really fast. Compound life by adding two children (now ages 11 and 8) to that timeline and it has gone by faster than I can fathom.

So after 14 years of marriage, it’s hard to know what to get each other. Don’t tell my husband, but the cake I got us, and the chocolate I bought (from the awesome Cotton’s Chocolates) is as far as I went this year.

He on the other hand, blew me away with his thoughtfulness and planning. I couldn’t stop smiling!

After sitting me down in front of our T.V., I had no idea what to expect. The video below is what I saw and I couldn’t believe it!

For my friends in the U.S. who won’t know who this incredible singer, songwriter and comedian is, her name is Jann Arden. She’s won numerous awards (both for her hilarious tv show and albums) and I have loved going to her concerts for years now.

She is also a champion of animal rights which is very near and dear to my heart. All the proceeds for this Cameo my husband commissioned, go to the campaign Horseshit.ca which is fighting the live exportation of draft horses from Canada to Japan. They are sold for sushi meat. My heart dies just thinking about it, and I won’t go into the details here as it is too gut wrenching, but if you feel compelled, please go to the website above and sign the petitions to stop this disgusting agricultural trade.

Jann, I love your heart, music and voice for the animals. Never stop being you. Thanks for making my anniversary a night to remember.
