The Leveilles Celebrate Their 50th Wedding Anniversary
Don and Isabel Leveille met in Vernon where Isabel was teaching school. Don thought he was just passing through Vernon and on to other adventures but meeting Isabel changed those plans! Within a year they were engaged and six months later, on July 22 1967, they were married in Revelstoke, Isabel’s hometown.
Don then took his bride to his hometown of Regina where he felt he could receive better training in sales. Within two years the Okanagan was calling them back. They returned in 1969, purchased a house and have called Vernon home ever since. Isabel returned to teaching and Don started his own business Sun Valley Office Equipment. When the children came along, Isabel stayed home and together they raised a daughter, Renée and a son, A.J. Don eventually sold Sun Valley Office Equipment but continued working in management and sales in different venues. He retired in 2000. Isabel returned to teaching when the children were older and retired from Silver Star Elementary in 2003.
In retirement they have enjoyed world travel with the latest trip being a cruise to Alaska with family to celebrate their 50th.
They have four grandchildren; Nicholas, Nathan, Jack and Ava.
Don continues his lifelong hobby of playing with cars. He is an active member of Sun Valley Cruisers, a local car club for those interested in hot rod and custom cars. When they met, Don was driving a 34 Ford. I guess some things never change!
