As a Vernon Photographer, it is always a great pleasure when I get to photograph a family I have known for many years.  And for an incredibly special occasion.  The graduation of their oldest daughter, Emily.

I am going to sound very old to say it was 26 years ago that I too visited Polson Park for my graduation from Vernon Secondary School.  Sure the beautiful graduation dresses have changed.  No longer are there wrist corsages or buttoners’ on the grads.   BUT there is still the same excitement in the air.  The grads have worked incredibly hard to finish their 12 years of schooling and their futures are full of the promise of new educational or career pursuits.

Emily is one of those very accomplished young woman that you know will go very far in the world of her chosen academic path; computer sciences.

Graduating with honours is not an easy accomplishment, nor is being on the chemistry squad!  I know there were lots of additional extra curricular activities she participated in as well and she does it all with a smile on her face.

Emily is also the niece of one of my dearest friends growing up so it was so wonderful to see Emily’s Oma and Opa for photos as well as they were a big part of my growing up.

As we walked around Polson Park capturing some images of Emily and her friends there was so much excitement and anticipation in the air.  Everyone was excited to be changing afterwards into their cap and gown for their convocation ceremonies at Kal Tire Place.

I wish the VSS grads of 2017 all the success in the world.  And congratulations Leon and Heather for raising such a beautiful young woman!
