As a Vernon Photographer, Tanya Lipscomb is one of those awesome clients you also love to hang out with! I have known about Tanya through my kids. They absolutely love her children’s stage persona, “Kiki the Eco Elf”. Every time I have met her, I have also known she would be a blast to get to know.
My husband and I got to know her a bit more this past August as the local charity event we donate to. Splash of Red. She was there dazzling the crowd on her stilts and after the auction which raised close to $50,000 for the Caetani Cultural Centre, we hung out for a bit. I immediately made plans to have coffee with her a few weeks later. I absolutely adore her and when she asked if I could do some head shots for two of her websites I said “absolutely!”
Our plans for her headshots evolved and changed over the course of a few texts and in the end we went to the underpass near Polson Park. The leaves were still nice and golden and they too were a great backdrop.
If you haven’t hadn’t the pleasure of meeting Tanya either as her amazing self, or as Lili Starr or Kiki…..you need to get out more. Tanya is EVERYWHERE!
Throughout Tanyas’ musical career, there has been a constant display of passion and devotion. Her spicy stage presence is marked with exuberance and excitement, her playing and rhythm is consistently solid and her 3-octave voice sways from rich, deep and powerful, to soft, subtle and sensuous. This Canadian artist has been performing for audiences for over 20 years and has won 3 awards from the Calgary Folk Festival Song writing Competition including The Arusha Song for Social Justice (2009), Best LIVE Performance (2008) and Best Lyrics (2005). With the ability to weave a tale, along with fresh, crisp lyrics, stage charisma and charm,Tanya has also won awards with the Jasper Folk Festival biannual competition (2003 & 2005) for best LIVE performance.
Currently Tanya resides in Vernon, BC with her husband and 3 children.. She has built a recording studio in her home and is excited to support talented local youth, in achieving their musical dreams and goals. Lipscomb is always preparing for another tour, continually playing festivals, house concerts, jazz clubs, pubs, restaurants, cafes and bars, promoting her albums. A busy musician, composer, producer and writer, you may also find Tanya Lipscomb performing as her alter ego- children’s entertainer “Kiki the Eco Elf”. Or perhaps playing with various bands, singing in a choir or performing with the Okanagan sensation “The Dharma Dolls”
